Zawgyi Font in a MAC OS(Apple) Video
Here is the instruction Video for how to download and install Zawgyi Font (Burmese) in a MAC OSX (Apple Computer). Keyboard layout is the same with Windows, but do research yourself when you are trying to use (Alt) key in OSX (press and hold “Option”key down) instead of (Atl+Tide) key in Windows. ထပ္ဆင့္စာလံုုးေတြရိုုက္ခ်င္ရင္ “Option” key ကိုု ဖိထားရင္းရိုုက္ရပါတယ္။ တစ္ခ်ိဳ႔ကို “Option+Shift” သံုးရပါတယ္။

OSX Lion “Zawgyi Font Problem” Trouble Shooting
Anyone who are getting trouble with Burmese Font in New OSX Lion, (like on Facebook) right after your installation of Zawgyi Font; (Zawgyi Font သြင္းၿပီးေသာ္လည္း Facebook ေပၚတြင္ ၿပသနာရိွေနေသးသူမ်ား ေအာက္ပါနည္းအတိုုင္း ေၿဖရွင္းႏိုုင္ပါသည္)
Open “Application>Font Book” (or) type “Font Book” in Spotlight,
look for Myanmar MN and Myanmar Sangam MN in the Font pane.
You can either Disable or Remove those. Restart your MAC. Then you will be fine on Safari.
If you want to make sure on Safari,
“Safari> Preferences> Appearance> change both Fonts to Zawgyi-One”

Fixed Zawgyi Keyboard for ပတ္ဆင့္ ” ၸ ” နဲ႔ “ ု” ကို ၿပန္ၿပင္ထားပါတယ္။
Click Here to Download this New Keyboard
(1) Extract downloaded zip file down to (Zawgyi.keylayout)
(2) Copy Zawgyi.keylayout
(3) Replace at (Your Hard Drive – MAC HD > Library > Key Layouts > Zawgyi.keylayout)
(4) Enter your password for Admin Access
This process might disable your Input Sources (eg. Language Flag will disappear)
(5) Setting > Keyboard > Input Sources > Check mark “Zawgyi KB” again
(6) Restart your MAC and try to type (Option + y) , you will see ” ၸ “

iPhone, iPad တိုု႔မွာ Zawgyi font ထည့္နည္းကိုုလည္းေျပာျပေပးပါအံုုး… please.

Finder ကိုဖြင့္ပါ။ ဘယ္ဖက္က sidebar ရဲ႔ Devices ေအာက္မွာ Hard Disk ကို မၿမင္ရဘူးဆိုရင္ Finder Menu က Preferences ကိုဖြင့္ပါ။ Sidebar Tab မွာ Hard Disk ကို Check လုပ္ေပးပါ။ အခုဆို Hard Disk ကိုၿမင္ရပါလိမ့္မယ္။ Download လုပ္ထားတဲ့ Update#2 က Zip file ကိုဖြင့္။ Copy and paste လုပ္ရံုပါပဲ။ ၿပီးရင္ အလံပံုေလး ေပ်ာက္ေကာင္း ေပ်ာက္သြားပါလိမ့္မယ္။ Setting ကိုဖြင့္ပါ > Keyboard > Input Sources > Check mark “Zawgyi KB” again ၊ အားလံုးၿပီးရင္ Restart ၿပန္လုပ္ပါ။

Hi, what kind of MAC version you are using? If you are using Lion 10.7.x, there is an instruction just under the video in this post.
I installed Zawgyi-one font on my OSX 10.8.2 and it seem to work on webpages on RFA, Irrawaddy and DVB but it came out all mangled on Facebook, gmail on Safari, Firefox and Chrome. That is to say it didn’t work once you logged in to Facebook and gmail on aforementioned browser.
They worked perfectly on OSX 10.6 on my old macPro.
I am stumped.

Windows မွာလား၊ တကယ္ေတာ့ ဒီ post က MAC အတြက္ပါ။ Windows ကိုေၿပာၿပေနတယ္ ထင္လို႔ အဲဒီအတြက္ ႀကိဳးစား ေၿဖေပးပါမယ္။ သံုးတဲ့ Browser ထဲက Option / Setting မွာ Default Font ကို Zawgyi ေၿပာင္းေပးပါ။ မရရင္ Control Panel > Region and Language > Keyboards > Install Services မွာ Zawgyi Unicode ကို Click လုပ္ၿပီး Move Up နဲ့ အေပၚတင္ႀကည့္ပါ။ တကယ္လို႔ မရရင္ ႏွစ္ခုလံုးၿပန္ထုတ္ၿပီး Ayer ကို အရင္ Install လုပ္ၿပီးမွ Zawgyi ကို Install လုပ္ပါ။ ဒီ Site မွာရေနတာက ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔က Zawgyi ကို support လုပ္ထားလို႔ပါ။
Could you please explain to me how to type Dead Key? I know how to type the upper Dead Key by using “option + Key”. But I find it difficult to type the lower Dead Key.

P.S. there is no apperance tab on preference at Safari on my iMac.
@Aung , did you remove Myanmar Sagnam font from Font Book? Even though you did remove, still need to restart your MAC sometime.

Why not we have myanmar keyboard available in iOS like everyone else. There 60 million Myanmar Population in the world. Only 5 million Tibetan in the world. Even smallest European country got there keyboard availabe in iOS. Why not Myanmar Keyboard in iOS. Apple do not care about Myanmar.
Hi Sam, I think you are misunderstanding about Apple. They have nothing to do with it. Unfortunately we (Burma) don’t even have an official (standard) layout for the whole country. That’s why you are seeing several different fonts and layouts everywhere such as Winn, CE, Zawgyi, and so on,. We can sense Apple or Microsoft are eager to put different Languages as much as they can, simply because they want to sell their products every corners of the world. But it has to be a standard Layout for each related country. So which font or layout Apple has to pick for Burma? Since Burma doesn’t have an official KB layout, Burmese IT Dept. has responsible for that cause. They have to implement a best KB-layout for the future and encourage the people to adapt it forever. BTW- Apple already put a Burmese language in OSX Lion (10.7), it is useless since most Burmese are using Zawgyi. If you read the above post, you will understand why.

Hold “Option” key down while you are typing. It is in the post, please read at the top.

You have downloaded, OK, did you double click on it? then a Wizard box will tell you to drag Zawgyi font into a folder, and Keyboard as well. If you are done so, you should be able to see some Burmese letters on the web. So on, if you are using OSX-Lion or higher, you have to remove Built-in Burmese fonts, everything is in the post. Pls, let me know if you still are having problems.

I’ve got it. I download the zaw gyi one font from voanews.com/burmese. now my keyboard is active and can type in Myanmar clearly. Kyay zue ka bar par…
How to delete/remove completely zawgyi KB font from my mac?
I can’t search in my Font Book or All my files but in my (Language & Text)=> Input Sources.
HD > Library > Key Layouts > Zawgyi.keylayout and zawgyi.icn (delete both of them)

Do I need to uninstall that Keymagic before installing your package? If yes, could you please kindly tell me how to proceed it as I was trying and didn’t succeed.

I’ve never tried it before. So honestly I’m not sure. Anyhow I would remove it first. And you have to read the whole post here so it might help you out. As far as we know in Lion, you have to remove built-in Burmese fonts (Myanmar Sangam) in order to avoid fonts conflict with Zawgyi. So download and install as above post says. Then choose Zawgyi KB in Input Sources (Setting> Language & Text). But some M.Lion users reported that they have a few glitches. So try it out and please let me know how it goes.

admin, i haven’t updated my mac into osxlion or anything. But still having some difficulties reading and writing it. I have downloaded it and dragged those items into application. But whenever burmese fonts are appeared, it seems like some fonts are missing and couldn’t read at all..

what version of your MAC? may be you have to remove built-in font. Pls read the instruction under the video in this post.

က်မရဲ႕ Mac Computer က Mac OS X version 10.6.8 ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ စက္မွာ ဆရာျပထားတဲ့ အတိုင္း ျမန္မာစာကို downloadလုပ္ပါတယ္။ အစစအရာရာ အဆင္ေျပပါတယ္။ ဒါေပမယ့္ Firefox, G mail, G talk, facebook ေတြမွာ ျမန္မာစာ ေကာင္းေကာင္းမေပၚသလို၊ ေကာင္းေကာင္းလည္း ရိုက္လို႔မရပါဘူး။ ဥပမာ ေအာက္ကျမစ္ကို ရိုက္ခ်င္လို႔ shift+Y, ပဆင့္ကိုရိုက္ခ်င္လို႔ option+Yရိုက္ရင္ တလြဲေတြ ထြက္လာပါတယ္။ Firefox, G mail, G talk, facebook ေတြမွာ ျမန္မာစာဖတ္ရင္လည္း အဲသည့္စာလံုးေတြေနရာမွာ အဲသည္လို တလြဲေတြ ေပၚေနပါတယ္။ ဆရာျပထားေပးတဲ့ update (1) အတိုင္း လိုက္လုပ္ေပမယ့္ နံပါတ္(၂)ရဲ႕ ညာဘက္ျခမ္းမွာ ေပၚရမယ္ဆိုတဲ့ Myanmar MN နဲ႕Myanmar Sangam MNကို မေတြ႔ပါဘူး။ ဒါေၾကာင့္ ပထမနည္းက အဆင္မေျပလို႔ Update(2)အတိုင္း တသေဝမတိမ္း လိုက္လုပ္ေသာ္လည္း အဆင့္အဆင့္ ေအာင္ျမင္စြာ လုပ္ႏိုင္ေသာ္လည္း စာလံုးေတြကေတာ့ ဒီအတိုင္းပဲ ေကာင္းမလာပါဘူး။ က်မ စာေရးတာ ဝါသနာပါတဲ့အတြက္ ကူညီေပးပါဦးလို႔ အႏူးအညြတ္အကူအညီ ေတာင္းပါတယ္ရွင့္။ ဒီစက္နဲ႔ရိုက္ျပီး ပံုမွန္မထြက္တဲ့ စာလံုးေတြကို Windowစက္တခုခုကေန ဝင္ၾကည့္ရင္ေတာ့ ပံုမွန္စာလံုးေတြအတိုင္း ဖတ္လို႔ရပါတယ္။ ေက်းဇူးျပဳျပီး ကူညီလို႔ရရင္ ကူညီေပးပါလို႔ ေမတၱာရပ္ခံပါတယ္။
V 10.6.8 ဆိုေတာ့ Snow Leopard ၿဖစ္မွာပါ။ အဲဒီေတာ့ Built-in Myanmar font ေတြမပါ ပါဘူး။ Zawgyi-One ထည့္ၿပီးတာနဲ႔ အလုပ္ လုပ္ရမွာပါ။ Safari မွာစမ္းႀကည့္ေသး သလား။ Safari, Firefox အားလံုးကို Update လုပ္ေပးပါ။ ၿပီးရင္ Firefox > Preferences > Content > Fonts & Color > Advanced မွာ Sans-Serif ကို Zawgyi-One ေၿပာင္းႀကည့္ပါ၊ အားလံုးကိုေၿပာင္းရင္လဲ ရပါတယ္။ အဲလို လုပ္လို႔မွ မရေသးရင္ ၿပန္ေၿပာပါ။ တၿခားနည္း လမ္း စဥ္းစားႀကည့္တာေပါ့။
မ်က္ရည္က်မတတ္ကို ဝမ္းသာမိပါတယ္ရွင့္။ က်မ အလြန္အမင္း ေက်းဇူးတင္ပါတယ္။ ဆရာျပန္ေျဖေပးသလို လိုက္လုပ္ၾကည့္လိုက္တာပါ။ က်မစက္က MacBook Airပါ။ ဘဝဆက္တိုင္း အခုလို သူတပါးကို ကူညီႏိုင္တဲ့ ပညာတတ္ၾကီးပဲ ျဖစ္ပါေစ။ အလြန္အမင္းကို ေက်းဇူးတင္ပါတယ္။ ေနာင္ကိုလည္း ကြန္ျပဴတာနည္းပညာနဲ႔ ပါတ္သက္လို႔ တခုခု ျဖစ္လာရင္ ကူညီေပးပါလို႔ ေမတၱာရပ္ခံပါတယ္။

ကူညီပါဉီး ,အကို ကျွန်တော့်စက်က အကိုပြောပေးထားသလို လုပ်မရဘူး mac osx ပါအကို font book ထဲက myanmar mn နဲ့myanmar sangan mn ကိုလည်းremove လုပ်ပါတယ် restart လုပ်ပြီး safari>preference>appearance ရောက်တော့ chang both fonts ရေးဖို့ရှာမရဘူး၊ တခြားဟာတွေပဲပေါတယ်။ ကျေးဇူးတင်စွာဖြင့်
Please make sure you do have “Zawgyi-One” font in the Font Book.

hi. i have installed zawgyi font for mac osx lion. i have also disabled Myanmar MN and Myanmar Sangam MN from my font book. i can type in burmese but i am still unable to read burmese letters on my blog and i’m unable to read burmese letters on Gmail chats. what am i doing wrong?
You have to change Zawgyi-one as a default font in your CSS which controls your web site. Also try this ,
Safari > Preferences > Appearance > Zawgyi-one

Open “Application>Font Book” (or) type “Font Book” in Spotlight, look for Myanmar MN and Myanmar Sangam MN in the Font pane. You can either Disable or Remove those. Restart your MAC. Then you will be fine on Safari.

Is your computer a MAC? Look for (MAC – Preferences> Content > Default Font > Zawgyi-One )
( if Windows > Tools > Options > Content > Font > Zawgyi-One )
Or use Chrome it is faster than Firefox.

Remove Myanmar MN and Myanmar sangam MN fonts from the Font Book. Restart your MAC. ( Application > Font Book > All Fonts )

diabling or/and removing Myanmar MN and Myanmar Sagain MN fixed the
facebook and gmail’s zawgyi font rendering issue.

I think you got the wrong one. You have to download the Font (very top) not the only keyboard.

There is no way it will work without Jailbreaking. But there are Free Apps from App Store.

when I put zawgyi font, this dialog box is appear.{ The item “Zawgyi.keylayout” can’t be moved because “Keyboard Layouts” can’t be modified. Please advise me.
seems like you already had that file in under
HDD > Library > Keyboard Layout Folder. ( it should not be a problem )

System Preferences > Language > Input Sources (Check Zawgyi KB)
Then you will see a small flag at Top Right corner,
Choose a flag as you want to type whatever language you like.
